Last week a student was shoot at Cape Fear High School in North Carolina. The 15 year old victim was shot by two fellow students. The 18-year-old and 15-year-old male suspects wounded Abercrombie on the neck, with a .22 Daisy rifle, but she was in a stable condition after a surgery at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. According to the county sheriff she was standing outside her cafeteria when she was shot. The eldest suspect of the shooting is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, while the younger suspect will go to juvenile court. The cause of the shooting is still unknown, but it seems that 15-year –old Abercrombie was not the target. The suspects were caught on video, by a surveillance camera while they brought the weapon into the school. There are metal detectors at the high school, but the county sheriff said he did not know if they were used on a regular basis. What is a fact is that the High school and a neighbor middle school where locked down for hours, after the incident occurred. Additional staff will be present on Tuesday at both schools to help the officers on duty, but the schools are to operate as normal.
